Jordanian Citizenship by Investment
At a glance
Jordan may grant citizenship through qualifying business investments, shares, existing investments, or job creation. Each option has its own amount, location, employment, and time requirements. You need evidence of real activity and government approval.
- Activity
- An accepted investment, share-purchase, or job-creation option
- Investment
- From JOD 350,000 for certain existing investments outside the Capital Governorate
Summary
Jordan may grant citizenship to investors who meet one of its business, share-investment, or job-creation options. This usually means a real investment or business activity in Jordan, with requirements you must keep meeting over time. The government reviews the application and decides whether to grant citizenship.

-

-
Apply and keep records Document the investment, operations, jobs, taxes, and continued fulfillment of the requirements.
A donation alone does not qualify. Each option has requirements that must be met before citizenship can be approved.
Eligibility
The requirements depend on the option you choose:
- New productive businesses: at least JOD 700,000 and 20 Jordanian jobs in the Capital Governorate, or JOD 500,000 and 10 jobs elsewhere. You receive a temporary passport first; citizenship is considered after three years of meeting the requirements.
- Existing investments: qualifying business assets with an average value of JOD 700,000 in the Capital Governorate or JOD 350,000 elsewhere, with the required Jordanian employment maintained for three years.
- New share investment of at least JOD 1,000,000, with no more than 20% in any one company. The shares cannot be borrowed or used as security for a loan. Withdrawals, including profits, are restricted for three years.
- Medical warehousing or logistics projects with at least JOD 3,000,000 per partner and requirements for business operations and employment.
- Job creation: 150 Jordanian employees in the Capital Governorate or 100 elsewhere, maintained for one year before citizenship and two years afterward.
You need evidence of the investment, business activity, jobs, and where your money came from. Government approval is required.
What This Route Allows
Some business options first provide temporary residence and a temporary passport. These do not mean you are already a citizen. Citizenship comes only after officials check that you have met the requirements and approve it. You can then obtain citizenship records, apply for citizen identity or passport documents, and live in Jordan without a separate immigration permit.
What This Route Is Not
A government donation or ordinary bank deposit is not enough for this program. Most applicants need a qualifying business, shares, operating history, or jobs in Jordan.
Next Steps
- Identify which official pathway fits the investment: new business, existing investment, listed shares, medical logistics, or job creation.
- Confirm the amount and location rules with a qualified Jordanian advisor before investing.
- Prepare company, share, asset, employment, tax, social-security, and records showing where your investment money came from.
- File through the appropriate Jordanian investment and citizenship process.
- Keep records showing that you have maintained the required jobs and kept the investment for the required time.
