Summary
Adopting El Salvador offers an expedited citizenship application through a government-reviewed contribution paid in Bitcoin or USDT. The main contribution is USD $1,000,000, with separate fees for family members. The initial USD $999 application payment is non-refundable, but counts toward the contribution if the application succeeds.
The program states a limit of 1,000 participants per year. Confirm that applications are open, along with the current fees and terms, through the official government program before paying.
-
Confirm terms and availability Check the official application capacity, family coverage, fees, and legal procedure.
-
Prepare evidence and apply Build the identity, background, and funds file; use the verified official flow for the initial non-refundable fee.
-
Follow written payment instructions Only after written approval Confirm approval, the official destination, and the amount before sending the balance.
-
Obtain final citizenship records Complete the required process and ensure each approved family member receives the final naturalization record.
The program describes a USD $1 million contribution paid in Bitcoin or USDT. Payment and a short online form do not by themselves establish citizenship.
Eligibility
The public program is directed to a main applicant able to make the full USD $1,000,000 contribution. Before applying, confirm that:
- The applicant is an adult and can enter the application personally.
- The full contribution and all professional, conversion, and transaction costs are available.
- Payment can be made in the program's accepted Bitcoin or USDT method.
- Identity, criminal-history, source-of-funds, and source-of-wealth evidence can withstand government and payment-provider review.
- Any accompanying spouse and children fit the live family definition.
- No sanction, criminal, fraud, or security issue is likely to prevent approval.
The site says the initial application takes only a few minutes and that the submitted information is reviewed and verified. Its public FAQ does not provide a complete list of background-check requirements. Do not infer from that brevity that background and funds checks are optional. Obtain the checklist inside the official application account before committing the larger amount.
The USD $999 application payment is non-refundable. The site says it becomes part of the USD $1,000,000 total for a successful applicant. If the case is refused or withdrawn, do not assume it will be returned.
Family inclusion should also be confirmed in writing. The current public FAQ states one spouse and all children under 18. It does not publicly explain every custody, dependency, consent, stepchild, adoption, or post-filing age issue.
What This Route Allows
If the government approves the application, accepts the full contribution, completes naturalization, and issues the required records, the successful person can obtain Salvadoran citizen documentation and a passport. Salvadoran nationality allows residence and work in El Salvador without a separate immigration permit.
The USD $1,000,000 contribution can support the main applicant, one spouse, and children under 18, with an additional USD $999 administrative fee for each family member. Each family member still needs individual identity and civil-status documentation and must be expressly included and approved.
Multiple nationality requires case-specific advice. Freedom Visa recipients use a naturalization provision. Article 91's unconditional dual-or-multiple-nationality protection is written for Salvadorans by birth, while Article 93 and the ordinary naturalization documents address retention of prior nationality through treaty and reciprocity rules. The public Freedom Visa site does not resolve every nationality-law consequence for every origin country. Get written advice before assuming a prior nationality will be retained.
What This Route Is Not
The Freedom Visa is not:
- A recoverable investment in real estate, a company, bonds, or a fund.
- The standard F4 investor temporary-residence category.
- A USD $999 citizenship purchase. That amount only starts the application.
- A guarantee of approval, citizenship, a passport, or a fixed deadline.
- Proof that every family member, adult child, parent, or other relative is included.
- A reason to send cryptocurrency to an address received through email, messaging, or an unofficial intermediary.
- A settled substitute for tax, sanctions, source-of-funds, family-law, and nationality advice.
Use the authenticated government application process for payments and keep the official instructions, receipts, and transaction records.
Confirm that applications are being accepted and obtain the current terms and processing estimate directly from the government program.
Next Steps
- Read the live official FAQ and account terms. Save a dated copy of the terms that apply to the application and family.
- Confirm capacity before paying. Verify that the program is accepting applications and how its stated 1,000-participant limit is being administered.
- Obtain Salvadoran legal advice. Ask counsel to confirm the Article 156(5) procedure, naturalized status, family inclusion, refusal consequences, and final citizenship records.
- Obtain home-country advice. Review dual nationality, tax consequences of disposing of cryptocurrency, reporting, sanctions, and any source-of-funds obligations.
- Build the evidence file. Prepare identity and civil records, police certificates, financial statements, tax returns, business or asset-sale evidence, and a clear explanation of how you obtained your wealth.
- Pay the USD $999 only through the verified official flow. Treat it as non-refundable. Preserve the receipt and the program's statement that it will be credited if the case succeeds.
- Wait for written approval and payment instructions. Do not send the balance based on a third-party promise. Re-verify the official destination and amount.
- Complete citizenship documentation. After approval and payment, make sure every named family member receives the final naturalization record before applying for a DUI or passport.
