Andorra Digital Nomad Residence
At a glance
If your work can be done remotely using technology, you may qualify for Andorra's digital nomad residence. The economy ministry must first approve the work. You also need to meet the financial, housing, insurance, and residence requirements, and there must be a place available under the program's limit.
- Work approval
- The economy ministry must accept work you can do remotely without a fixed Andorran workplace
- Time in Andorra
- At least 90 days each calendar year
- Living arrangements
- Housing, funds for the full stay, and private health and incapacity coverage; age-based insurance exceptions apply
Summary
Andorra's digital nomad residence is for newcomers whose work does not need a fixed location and can be done through telecommunications and technology. It requires a favorable classification from the economy ministry, housing, sufficient means, private coverage, and a 90-day annual residence commitment.
After the economy ministry accepts the work, the applicant completes the separate residence file and local parish registration. The initial permission normally lasts two years. Renewals require continuing eligibility; approval of a remote job does not remove the housing, coverage, or physical-presence conditions.
-
Document location-independent work Use contracts, employer letters, or business records showing the remote arrangement.
-
Obtain the economy ministry's resolution Confirm that the activity qualifies under the program.
-
Complete the residence file Prepare housing, means, insurance, personal records, and the required presence plan.
Work that depends on a fixed Andorran workplace does not establish the same basis. Available places and the remaining residence conditions still apply.
Eligibility
You may be a fit if:
- Your work can be done from anywhere using telecommunications and technology.
- You do not need to work for Andorran clients or a fixed Andorran workplace to keep earning.
- You can obtain the required favorable resolution from the economy ministry.
- You can spend at least 90 days per calendar year in Andorra.
- You can show housing or a qualifying path to housing.
- You can show economic means for yourself and any dependents for the full permit period. The official page does not publish a fixed euro figure in the route summary; it says the amount must meet the requirements set by regulation.
- You maintain private coverage valid in Andorra for illness and incapacity for yourself and any dependents. Minors and people over 60 are generally asked for illness coverage.
- You can provide criminal-record certificates and complete the medical review.
The applicant must also fit the regulatory quota. The official checklist requires criminal-record certificates from the country of origin, country of nationality and countries of residence; birth, marriage, and other family records; housing; registration with the local Comú; and apostille (a certificate verifying an official signature or seal for use abroad) or legalization (official checks confirming a document's origin for use abroad) of foreign official records.
What This Route Allows
This route can let you reside in Andorra while doing the location-independent work accepted by the economy ministry. The initial authorization is two years; the first renewal is two years, the second is three years, and later renewals are ten years, subject to continuing eligibility and any treaty exception. Registration with the Comú is required within one month after the authorization and must be documented within that period.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a local employment visa and not a general remote-worker category for anyone who can work from home. It does not guarantee entry merely because an employer is foreign. Andorra requires quota availability, favorable economy-ministry classification, proof of housing, sufficient financial support, private coverage, at least 90 days of principal and effective residence per calendar year, and the post-approval local registration.
Next Steps
- Document how your work is location-independent.
- Prepare contracts, employer letters, client agreements, or business records showing the remote setup.
- Confirm the economy-ministry classification step before filing the residence application.
- Arrange housing, proof of economic means, and private coverage in Andorra.
- Gather criminal-record certificates and birth, marriage, and other family records.
- Apostille or legalize foreign official documents and plan to register with the local Comú within one month after approval.
