Summary

Dominica’s ordinary residence process can cover a nonworking stay funded from personal resources or another person’s support. The application needs the financial records and a responsibility letter from a friend or family member, with lawful immigration status maintained during local processing.

This category is separate from the remote-work program and citizenship by investment. It should not be assumed to authorize either local or overseas work; any plan to earn income needs to fit the conditions actually granted.

Eligibility

The government checklist asks for bank evidence from the applicant or a person accepting responsibility. It also asks for a friend or family member's responsibility letter. Sufficient savings do not remove that separate published requirement.

Other documents include a passport with at least six months' validity, medical forms, a police record, photographs, testimonials, a return ticket or deposit, and applicable marriage records. Confirm how to satisfy the former-employer testimonial requirement if it does not fit your circumstances. No universal income threshold appears in this checklist.

The application procedure is local: the government asks applicants to present a passport and current extension before obtaining the forms. Someone abroad should confirm the process and arrange lawful entry first. Applicants must maintain extensions while processing continues.

Financial evidence and a responsibility letter
  1. Show financial support Provide bank evidence from the applicant or responsible person.
  2. Obtain the separate letter Include the published friend or family responsibility letter.
  3. Complete the permit file Gather personal records and keep the authorized stay current.

Savings do not remove the responsibility-letter requirement in the published checklist.

What This Route Allows

An approved permit authorizes residence for the period and conditions granted. Renewal requires a further application with updated supporting records; do not assume a particular duration before approval.

Ask how accompanying family members should apply and document their support.

What This Route Is Not

Submitting an application does not extend your visit or make an overstay lawful. This guide does not establish local or remote work rights. Remote workers should examine the separate Work in Nature route.

Ordinary residence is neither citizenship by investment nor immediate permanent residence.

Next Steps

  1. Confirm the application procedure, responsibility letter, and entry requirements before traveling.
  2. Obtain the official forms and assemble financial and personal evidence.
  3. Submit with the applicable fee and keep your authorized stay current throughout processing.
  4. Review the permit conditions and renewal checklist after approval.
